Compost Primer

Inspirational Path

Part 4: community celebration

YOU are in the best position to know if your efforts are setting the stage for thriving holobionts. No approaches work the same everywhere, but we all need to be inspired by stories about what worked in other situations. The HH is a place to share what you’ve discovered (in your context) and celebrate effective holobiont caretaking.

One critical aspect of community celebration is embracing different stages in our journeys. We welcome both new and highly experienced composters, and we’re deeply interested in hearing everyone’s stories. If we work together, this primer will also become more fine-tuned!

The Learning Cycle and Celebration

We propose this compost-making learning cycle: (1) planning with accurate information, (2) building and managing an active pile, (3) tracking outcomes to understand fundamentals, and (4) reflecting on possible changes in future attempts. There’s one more step to add: (5) sharing discoveries with the rest of us.

What was your composting plan? How did you construct and monitor your system? What did you notice, and what are your hunches about the underlying causes? How will you change your tactics in the future?

If you answer those prompts, you’ll have an exciting story to share with the rest of us! Our community wants to connect everyone with technical realities and adapt key ideas to specific situations. We ALWAYS welcome thoughtful questions.

We’re passionate about active composting, and working to communicate the power of holobionts. We want to help as many people as possible succeed at improving ecological relationships within their land and achieving positive outcomes.

Halfway There!

We hope you enjoyed the first few sections of the Primer. Let's embrace the ongoing adventure of compost-making and partnering with holobionts across diverse landscapes. Everyone can participate in direct actions that support and celebrate our biosphere.
